A Silakat diver turning high against a blue summer sky
Turku · Diving club

Room to learn. Courage to jump.

Safe, thoughtful diving for children, young people and adults — from a first careful step to competition.

Since 2009

A small club with a long view

Silakat is a member-run non-profit in Turku. About about 140 people train across our groups, guided by qualified coaches and a practical respect for the pool and one another.

Our name means Baltic herrings — an ordinary, resilient fish at home in Turku and the Archipelago Sea. We wear it lightly and with affection.

Why diving?

Strength, attention and a little bravery

Diving asks the whole body to work together. Progress can be measured in centimetres: a straighter line, a calmer approach, a cleaner entry. On dark Finnish evenings, the bright pool offers a place to move and belong.

“We teach the person first, and the dive second. A safe athlete learns more.”
— Tuomas Salo, head coach
